Week 5 Reflection

This week was our official introduction into the wild life of poetry. Before this class I hadn't written poetry in a few years. It was a nice refreshment and very interesting. I was asked what I thought about poetry and I responded, " zzzzzzzzzzzz, it puts me to sleep." When I think of poetry, I automatically think of old, classical soliloquies and ballads. I always knew that music is poetry but its just a different style. Our assignment tested us when we had to write a ballad about a murder love story. This assignment was very exciting because I got pick the topic and put my thoughts down in rhyming form. I enjoyed it a lot. Here is my ballad:
The Titan

Mid afternoon on a nice day
No one would ever believe it would end this way
Sleeping in the condominium without a care
Was the scene of the murder suicide of Steve Mcnair

Though having four children and married for a twelfth year
His girlfriend Sahel Kazemi is who held him dear
Young and dramatic and living in doubt
The death of him and her was her way out

She dreamed of moving in with him
But could she be acting on an adolescent whim
Could this plan eventually take course
With Mcnairs wife claiming no thoughts of divorce

So that great day became dull
With two shots in the chest and one in the skull
People always do crazy things for love
This took two lives and ruined thousands,
Hopefully he is resting in peace and watching from above
